Since its founding in 1944, Chip-in Farm has enjoyed a close relationship with the Town of Bedford, such as the partnership between our Farmer’ Helpers community education team and the Bedford Recreation Department that makes farm programs available to children of all ages.
We would like to express our gratitude to our wonderful town for their support by highlighting a few activities that we feel make Bedford truly unique.
Walking and Biking

Bedford has an extensive trail system, with 20 miles of maintained paths for walking and biking. In the summer, buy an ice cream treat at the Farm Store and take a walk on the peaceful, shaded Reformatory Branch Trail (aka Minuteman Bikeway Extension) and in the winter, clip on your snowshoes for a trek along the Buehler Pond Trail. Visit the Town of Bedford website to access over 20 trail maps.
Golf

Did you know that there is a lovely, public 9-hole golf course and driving range in town? The Patriot Golf Course is located on the grounds of the Bedford VA Hospital and managed by Hanscom Air Force Base. There is a PGA teaching pro on staff who offers individual and group lessons. In the winter, the terrain is perfect for cross-country skiing.
Swimming

Springs Brook Park is a relaxing summer destination for swimming, picnicking and activities ranging from a children’s sprinkler play area to a volleyball pit for teens and adults.
In addition to managing Springs Brook Park, the Bedford Recreation Department offers something for everyone in their seasonal catalogs, including Pickleball programs for all levels of play which are offered throughout the year.
